At Bioteen, our focus, as a health science business, is the development of solution-driven nutraceuticals, formulated specifically for the health and wellness requirements of teenagers from adolescence to young adulthood. With products across 11 categories, our range of products provides solutions to common health challenges.

When we talk about the self, we are talking about you, who you are, what you think and how you feel as you move through the world. Optimum wellness(health) is feeling and being your best self. We are all unique and have our own set of values, beliefs, goals, strengths and stretches. How we see the world, how we respond to the world and the decisions we make are all influenced by these variables Personal growth is the process of becoming self-aware as self-awareness is the first step towards self-management.
For the body to function optimally it needs to move. Move in any way that works for you, makes you feel good, is fun, challenging and elevates your heartrate. Be it rollerblading, skateboarding, cycling, swimming, basketball or even dancing to your favourite playlist. Not only will you start feeling stronger in your body but also simply moving your body has immediate, long lasting, and protective benefits for the brain. Movement has profound impacts at a physical and mental level. The benefits of movement are better mood, deeper sleep, feeling stronger, clearer mind which are all key in helping you be the most resilient you.
The definition of rest is to stop work or movement in order to relax, sleep, or recover your strength. Life is busy and it is imperative to take breaks from the ongoing stressors. Sleep is an essential function that allows your body and mind to recharge, leaving you refreshed and alert when you wake up. Healthy sleep also helps the body remain healthy and stave off diseases. Without enough sleep, the brain and body cannot function optimally. When life gets busy and seems a little overwhelming, sometimes just finding a quiet space and calming the mind by practising deep breathing can help regulate our heart rate, thereby creating a sense of calm. Another strategy for finding mental space and helping to restore a sense of calm is by getting out in nature. Walk on the mountains, beach or just around the garden.

Whole foods are those foods that are closest to their natural state. For example, an apple as opposed to apple juice. The further away a food is from it’s natural state, the more processed it is and the lower its nutrient content. Macronutrients such as proteins, carbohydrates and fats, micronutrients such as vitamins and minerals, as well as good hydration are essential to our overall health. When you eat, do so mindfully. Slow down, chew your food well and enjoy the pleasure of eating.
A support system is a network of people that provide you with practical and emotional support. A well-functioning support system sees you gaining knowledge and learning as you encounter and deal with the challenges along your journey. At a Teen, your support system is often comprised of your parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents, siblings, teachers, coach’s, tutors, community and friends. Research has shown that having a strong support system has many positive benefits, such as higher levels of well-being, better coping skills a longer and healthier life.
