As parents, we want the best for our kids, but knowing how best to navigate the issues that come with adolescence is not always easy. At Bioteen, we believe that access to professional health and wellness advice is essential and we are building a team of healthcare professionals to do just that. Members of our loyalty program are able to obtain a free 15 minute consultation with any of the healthcare practitioners on our panel who are all independent healthcare professionals in private practice.
Heather completed her Bachelor degree in Physiology and Psychology before training as a dietitian in South Africa (UCT). She then spent eight years practicing as a community dietitian in the UK covering a wide range of nutritional areas, including nutritional management of diabetes, cardiac rehabilitation, weight management and elderly care.
Heather returned to South Africa at the end of 2015 and has been working in private practice in areas of gut health. She enjoys teaching people about how the food we eat can influence our gut and overall wellbeing. She loves working with people to make healthy lifestyle choices, with a mission to support others to nourish their body and love food.
Heather loves spending time with her family and two young children.Â
Barbara graduated from University of Stellenbosch in 2019. She then went on to complete her community service year at Tygerberg Hospital and is currently pursuing her master’s degree in public health nutrition at Stellenbosch University.Â

Barbara has worked in various areas of Dietetics, including dietary counselling for patients living with Diabetes; Counselling, supplementation and tube feeding for complex paediatric cases and Tubefeeding and supplementation in the ICU.

Barbara is currently working in a private practice seeing patients in her rooms in Durbanville or virtually. Barbara’s passion is educating patients living with diabetes about their condition and how they can eat to help control their blood sugar levels without cutting out their favourite foods.
Michelle graduated from the University of Stellenbosch in 2015. In 2016 she completed her community service year at Cecilia Makiwane Hospital in the Eastern Cape. Michelle then stayed on at Cecilia Makiwane hospital in a permanent position for 5 years (2017 – 2021). During this time she worked in all areas of the hospital but had a particular interest in paediatrics.Â

During her time working in Government Michelle completed a course in nutrigenomics which has sparked an interest in personalized and preventative nutrition.Â

Since Michelle has left Cecilia Makiwane Hospital and relocated to Cape Town, she has worked for 6 months in a locum position at Tygerberg Hospital and is currently in the process of starting up a private out-patient practice.
